June 19th, 2015: The NAT has been restored. Java Web Start for the NAT is no longer supported. You may download the NAT by clicking on the link provided below.

Download the Neighborhood Auditing Tool

Installation instructions: You must have the latest version of Java (Java 8) installed. Java 8 is available for free at: https://www.java.com/en/download/. Click on the "Download the Neighborhood Auditing Tool" link above to download UMLSNAT.jar and make sure to save it in an easy to remember and access location. To start the NAT double click on UMLSNAT.jar.

For access to the NAT you must have a valid UMLS License from NLM.

After starting the NAT you will be asked to enter your UMLS Terminology Services (UTS) username and password for verification with NLM.

The Structural Analysis of Biomedical Ontologies Center at the New Jersey Institute of Technology is an NLM Authorized Content Distributor.

Your UTS username and password will only be used for UMLS license verification. Under no circumstances will we save or share your UTS username or password.


UMLS Semantic Type Adviser


Run the UMLS Semantic Adviser
The UMLS Semantic Type Adviser helps UMLS editors to determine whether a pair of semantic types is permitted, prohibited, or requires more research. The UMLS Semantic Type Adviser is accessible here.

To run the NAT you must have the latest version of the Java Runtime Environment installed from Oracle. You can download it by clicking here.
